who we are

The Backroad Bohemia website
is a companion to a radio program
of the same title that launched in
2005 on KWMR-FM KWMR-FM in
Point Reyes Station, California,
hosted by journalist, editor, former labor organizor and all around misfit Greg Cahill, the founding editor of the North Bay Bohemian, an award-winning alternative news weekly published in the
San Francisco Bay Area.

The radio show and the original incarnation of the North Bay Bohemian reflected a longtime interest in Beat-era poets and authors, and their influence on contemporary society, as well as contemporary outsider culture around the globe: from hippies
to hip hoppers, anarchists to rastafarians, punks to Goths, beboppers to beatsters and, well, you know who you are.

Complacency just ain't an option.
